The Association are delighted to announce they have been successful in securing a grant of £9000 from the National Lottery Awards for All

David Mitchinson

We are very sad to inform residents of the recent loss of the Association’s Chairman David Mitchinson, our thoughts and deepest condolences are wished to his wife Muriel and his family.
On behalf of the trustees and volunteers we would like to acknowledge the time and commitment Dave gave to ensuring we have a thriving community association and a very successful village hall.
It is over eight years since our journey began to retain a community building in Hutton Henry, from the very first meeting Dave became a driving force, never taking no for an answer and working tirelessly to make things happen. Dave was passionate about the village hall; nothing was too much trouble for him and his wife Muriel and we know he was extremely proud of our achievements.

Dave and Muriel were involved in the organisation of many events including the annual Macmillan coffee morning which, despite poor health this year, he continued to play a part. He was delighted at the total amount of £1150.00 which was raised bringing the total contribution paid to the charity over the past four years to a staggering £4000.

Dave was always the first to acknowledge the generosity of the many people who come along to our events and to the amazing volunteers who give their time to ensure the community benefits from a busy programme of events.
David Mitchinson you achieved what you set out to all those years ago, thank you from us all.

Thank You
Hutton Henry Memorial

Residents will have seen the memorial which has been installed on the village green, the unveiling of which took place on Remembrance Sunday, followed by refreshments in the village hall. Attendance at the event was unbelievable and it was marvellous to see everyone come to the village hall and share their memories and at the same time enjoying tea and cake.
Whilst refreshments were free, we did ask for donations towards the Royal British Legion and this raised a staggering £130.00, thank you. The Association would like to acknowledge the following organisations and people for their help in the completion of this work:
- Hutton Henry Parish Council for a grant of £5000 towards the cost of the stone
- Cemex for their donation of cement
- Volunteers who gave their time to assist in the construction- they know who they are!
- Hutton Henry C of E Primary School
And finally, our dedicated team of volunteers, who give their time freely to ensure we can continue to offer a wide range of events, which in turn ensures funds are available to sustain the village hall.

Thank You

Macmillan Cancer Support- World`s Biggest Coffee Morning

On the 29th September 2018 we organised the third Macmillan coffee morning in the Village Hall.
A lot of people went to work baking some delicious cakes, scones, biscuits and savoury delights and brought them along to the Hall for sale to all the people who attended. We organised a raffle which had 35 prizes generously donated by people from far and wide. A Name the Bear competition proved popular particularly with the young ones and handmade greetings cards were sold. Tea and coffee and soft drinks were sold and enjoyed along with the cakes.
Many commented on having had an enjoyable natter with friends and some stayed for the whole 2 hours. I would like to take the opportunity to thank my wife Muriel and all of the people who helped set up the Hall, spent their time and money baking, who served the tea and coffee and made the day a great success.
Thank you to all the people who donated the prizes and to all who bought raffle tickets.
Due to everyone`s hard work and generosity a magnificent amount of £778.00 was raised and this was sent to Macmillan to enable them to continue their tremendous work helping people in their hour of need.
Many thanks to all and I look forward to next year’s event.

Complete!

The redecoration is complete and doesn’t the hall look amazing! Thanks to all the volunteers, you know who you are, for giving your time to do the ongoing list of repairs and helping with the summer clean.

Improvements to the hall

A new custom made front door and frame has been fitted to the building as the old door was rotten and was becoming more and more difficult to open. Other works included replacement windows to the rear of the building and a custom made interior door to the toilets, which was a must to retain as much heat as possible in the main hall. Thank you to Hutton Henry Parish Council for their donation of £600 towards these improvements.
